Have you ever thought about what it really takes for you to get the most out of your workout? The truth is that there are a few things you can do before stepping foot on the field or in a gym!

Whether you like to do personal training sessions with a trainer, or would rather attend one of my morning New Jersey bootcamps, it is essential that you follow the suggestions below to get the most out of your time exercising!

Eat 2-3 Hours Before The Workout

Allowing yourself an ample amount of time to have your food properly digest into your body will help you get the essential nutrients you need.

Because your workout is going to burn through a lot of fuel, making sure your muscles are filled with the right amount of vitamins and nutrients before exercising will ensure that you will be able to keep the intensity up and see results faster. You will also be able to go longer, and be in the best state to burn fat and lose weight!

The worst action you can take is to eat something, and then immediately start working out. This will cause a lot of stomach cramps, and cause you to possibly vomit depending on the intensity of the workout you are doing.

Hydrate Yourself

Our bodies are made up of around 70% water, and it is essential that you spend time drinking enough water before your workout so that you give your system what it needs before you start exercising.

As you sweat and begin tearing down the muscle fibers (to be repaired by your body in recovery), it is important to get and stay hydrated.

Being properly hydrated before working out will also have a positive impact on your blood. The blood is the carrier of oxygen, and when the blood is able to move freely through your system when hydrated, you get the most out of your workout!

Eat Well The Night Before

As they always say, “Junk In, Junk Out.” If you are serious about reaching your health and fitness goals, having a healthy meal before going to sleep will help give your system what it needs to physically prepare for the workout you do the next morning.

If you spend time eating a junk-filled meal the night before, you will feel it in a big way the next day. You will be more sluggish, and won’t be able to perform the best you can.

Don’t cheat yourself! Stay committed!

Warm Up Properly

And finally, don’t forget to warm up properly. Making sure you give your body a 5-10 minute jogging warmup with a  proper stretching routine will ensure that you won’t get any injuries during the intense workout.

Be sure (if you haven’t already done so), to check out the articles on this site that explain how to do this properly! Getting injured is the worst thing you can do when you are on your way to getting fit and healthy!
